Dragonfly House

Arts and Crafts Homes and the Revival

Arts & Crafts Homes – Dragonfly House
Spring 2007

The Dragonfly House was a house that we design/built, as an ode to the Craftsman era, particularly the Greene & Greene Brothers from early 1900s California.  This project began as a renovation, but the existing house crumbled as each layer was peeled back.  Finally, we gave up and designed a house that fit into the fabric of the surrounding architecture, but that boasted its own distinct flavor.  The porch was the crowning glory, with the ficticious Japanese timber framed “letter” done from beams and hoisted with ropes and pulleys into the gable.
